From 1st March 2023, the Agwood Godstone depot is closing, and the sales, service and parts teams will relocate to the existing Crawfords depot at Newbridge Road, Billingshurst.
The temporary relocation of Agwood’s Godstone depot to the Crawfords depot at Billingshurst, will ensure Massey Ferguson customers continue receiving top-level support while suitable new premises are found.
Crawfords Group Holdings Ltd, the parent company of RW Crawford, which has a number of depots serving customers across the South-East, acquired the Agwood business last year. Sales and aftersales support for customers in the area continued from the existing Agwoods depots at Swingfield and Linton in Kent, and Godstone in Surrey. Adding the Agwood business to Crawfords group of companies has brought customer benefits including improved parts and machine availability from the Group’s larger stock-holding, and improved support from a larger team of sales and service specialists.
Investing for the future
“Our business was built on supplying the best products and backing them up with the very best after-sales service, and this will continue,” explained Managing Director, Wes Crawford. “Growth of our Massey Ferguson business means we have to consider the best strategy for the future, and this includes having depots in suitable locations with the space and facilities our teams need to work efficiently.”
Wes said that the Crawford family’s objective is to invest in a new depot from which to serve customers in Surrey and West Sussex. “This will take time, which is why we have decided to move the Agwood aftersales team, who will operate on a temporary basis from the RW Crawford Billingshurst depot. The facilities there are excellent, and there is great access from across the trading area, so we are sure that Massey Ferguson customers will be able to enjoy even better service from the familiar workshop and parts teams.
“Sales team members currently based at Godstone will also use the Billingshurst depot as a base, but most of the time will work from their homes which are conveniently located across the trading area.”
Temporary arrangement
“In line with AGCO’s brand separation policy – Route 66, our strategy for Surrey and West Sussex has been to represent Fendt and Valtra from the Crawfords Billingshurst depot, and Massey Ferguson from the Agwoods depots,” continued Wes. “However, we believe that this temporary arrangement is the best way to ensure customers in this area continue receiving excellent service, while we consider depot options for the future.
“The separate Fendt, Valtra and Massey Ferguson teams will continue to specialise in their own brands and look after their own customers, while sharing the facilities.”
